Another milestone in moving towards a globally competitive healthcare institution, the Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) conducted a 2-day Annual Accomplishment Review for C.Y. 2018 at Amphitheater, OPD Building last March 18 - 19, 2019 facilitated by the Planning and Strategy Management (PSM) Office.
The activity was participated by different Unit/Section/Department Heads. The Division Chiefs, Rodel M. Flores of Medical Division, Ma. Mercy C. Coral of Nursing Division, Carlito U. Pillerin of Hospital Operation and Patient Support Services (HOPSS) Division, Edilberto L. Bundalo of Finance Division together with the Chief Training Officer (CTO) Julmin T. Tapsirul II, Human Resource Management Section (HRMS) Head Rhodora M. Boiser, Legal Officer Atty. Jimmy A. Yasol, Chief Accountant Marvin V. Bohol and Planning Officer Kathlyn Lee F. Fuerzas served as review panel.
The primary purpose of the event is to review what DRMC has accomplished for the year 2018, current performances of each Division, issues and concerns in terms of finances, infrastructure, status of career and professional development of human resources and future plans for the year 2020-2022 were presented.
Nursing Division’s annual report was presented by Mr. Christian Bernaldez. He discussed the achievements and best practices on patient safety that help improved in the delivery of quality nursing care to clients. Continuing upgrade of competencies including the Nurse Certification Program (NCP) implementation was emphasized and proudly highlighted the attainment of ISO and Performance Governance System (PGS) targets and deliverables.
For the Medical Division, Dr. Rodel M. Flores presented the accomplishments of the division focusing on patients’ admission, consultations and discharges as shown in Table 1.
Furthermore, Dr. Flores highlighted the Clinical Departments Diplomate Examination Passing Rate attainment of 50% for Pediatrics, 83% for Obstetrics and Gynecology Department and 100% for Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology Departments and Family and Community Medicine Departments. Each Clinical Department was determined to provide the best residency training program in the country.
On the other hand, Ms. Alyne G. Franco presented the HOPPS Division report that focused on the 2018 Infrastructure Projects accomplishments which include the construction of new dietary & clinical nutrition building; upgrading of telecommunication lines for intercom, cables, & computer lines; upgrading of motor pool and laundry building; construction of the 2-Storey watchers waiting area; construction of hostel building #3; upgrading of electrical transmission lines & transformers; construction of nuclear medicine; construction of MRI location; construction of Oncology waiting area; and construction of Central Supply and Sterilization Unit (CSSU).
Moreover, the Finance Division report was presented by Ms. Karen Kate L. Gujol. The overall Hospital Income (Cash Income, PHIC Collection and Drugs and Medicines) increased by 3.59% while the Fund Utilization - MOOE and CO Obligation Budget Utilization Rate (including SAAS) also increased by 99.96% and General Appropriate Act Budget (99.98%) were maximized accordingly as presented in Table 2.
Lastly, the report under the Medical Center Chief Office was presented by Ms. Special S. Gazmen. It centered on Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program implementation for ISO 9001:2015, Performance Governance System (PGS) and Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy & Excellence in Human Resource (PRIME-HRM). Davao Regional Medical Center received a Gold Trailblazer award for the PGS Initiation & Compliance Phase. This showed the DRMC’s pursuit of excellence, integrity and for its courageous efforts to lift standards of governance in the public sector.

Despite DRMC’s constant struggles, challenges and circumstances, with the leadership of the Medical Center Chief, Bryan O. Dalid and collaborative efforts and cooperation of its employees, DRMC moves forward to many years of serving the people of Davao as it continue its quest for excellent health care that each clients truly deserve.
