On October 7th, 2016, Davao Regional Medical Center celebrated the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The said event held at the hospital gymnasium was participated by selected DRMC staff .Various activities were done such as lectures, consultations, booths offering freebies as well as flying of balloon to close the program.


It is said that breast cancer is already the leading type of cancer among women in the country today. A study by multinational pharmaceutical company showed that the Philippines is one of the top 3 Asian countries with the highest incidence of breast cancer. Moreover, that same study found out that the country has the highest breast cancer-related mortalities in Asia.

In response to the abovementioned situation, DRMC’s objective in holding the said event is to raise awareness on the importance of early detection of breast cancer among DRMC Health Care Providers.

Together with the Public Health Department staff, the Cancer Center for Mindanao headed by Dra. Suzette Solis worked hand in hand for the success of the activity held on October 7, 2016 at the hospital gymnasium. About 200 DRMC staff attended the half-day activity and guests from pharmaceutical companies also gave their support to this important event. (DRMC - PHD)
