“Tunog ni Nanay, Tunog ng Buhay”, is a program directed towards the education and training of the Rural Health Physicians in performing basic ultrasound to pregnant women, assist in patient management decisions and trigger timely referral to specialists and certified sonologists for proper diagnosis and interventions. The program objectives are:

  1. To train Rural Health Physicians in Limited Ultrasound Application in Obstetric
  2. To develop manpower skills that will implement this program
  3. To improve obstetric care even at the level of Rural Health Units
  4. To reduce MMR to 52 by 2015 (Millennium Development Goal)
  5. To strengthen Local Government Units (LGU) active participation in reducing MMR
